New Developments in Fast Needle Probe Sensors for Multiphase Flow Measurements
نویسندگان
چکیده
Measurement with local needle probes is a well-established method for the investigation of multiphase flows. Different measuring techniques have been employed for the needle probes in the past. The most known techniques are based on: conductivity, capacitance, optical and/or temperature measurements [1-3]. Based on the detection of single phases, these probes can provide information about void fraction, bubble size, frequency, and velocity, among others. The existing needle probe systems have limitations regarding the range of substances they are able to measure, the environmental conditions they can be applied to as well as their time resolution [3,4]. In this paper we describe two new developed needle probe sensors, which will enhance their application field. On one hand we present the further development of ultra-fast thermo needle probes for the phase-resolved temperature measurement aiming at the investigation of interfacial areas in the multiphase flow. On the other hand we introduce a new complex admittance needle probe, which is able to measure either conducting or nonconducting fluids, thus enabling the investigation of multiphase flow problems (e. g. threephase flow of oil, water and gas in the oil extraction).

Optimal design of a four-sensor probe system to measure the flow properties of the dispersed phase in bubbly air-water multiphase flows
This paper presents a systematic investigation on the design and development of a four-sensor probe system to be used for air-water multiphase flow measurements. A mathematical model is presented which can be used to determine the optimum axial separation of the front sensor with respect to three rear sensors within a four sensor probe system. This system can be used to measure flow properties ...
متن کاملMeasurement of reference bubble velocity vector for a local 4- sensor probe using orthogonal high speed cameras
In recent years, there has been an increase in the level of interest shown in making flow rate measurements in multiphase flow. This in part has been brought about by the metering requirements of the oil and natural gas industries. Measuring the volumetric flow rate of each of the flowing components is often required and this is particularly true in production logging applications, where it may...

متن کاملFiber-Optical Sensors: Basics and Applications in Multiphase Reactors
This work presents a brief introduction on the basics of fiber-optical sensors and an overview focused on the applications to measurements in multiphase reactors. The most commonly principle utilized is laser back scattering, which is also the foundation for almost all current probes used in multiphase reactors. The fiber-optical probe techniques in two-phase reactors are more developed than th...
